Join Us For Our First Community Open Mic Event At The FLATO Academy Theatre
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 22nd! We’re excited to announce the first open mic event at the FLATO Academy Theatre, hosted by Linda (Pinky) Brown with iPinkySwear, proudly sponsored by us—Lindsay Dodge. Joining her is Randy Read, a cherished member of our community and host of the Now & Then podcast about the Academy Theatre’s rich history. Doors open at 1 PM, and the show kicks off at 2 PM!
A Welcoming Space for All
Our goal is to ensure everyone in our community can enjoy live music or take the stage, regardless of experience. That’s why entry to this monthly event is by optional donation. Whether you’re there to watch or perform, there are no barriers. This is your chance to step onto the stage with a live band and make memories! Each show will be accompanied by fantastic sound provided by Van Halteren’s Music Centre. Our house band for September? None other than the talented Jake Norris and The SideStreet Band!
Exciting Prizes for Participants and Audience Members
Every month, one lucky performer will win a $100 gift card for Van Halteren’s Music Centre! But that’s not all—audience members could also win a gift card to a local experience, which will change with each event. Everyone has a chance to walk away with something special!

Want to perform as the featured house band? Interested in showcasing your talent, no matter your skill level? Head over to ldcl.ca/community and fill out the form at the bottom of the page with the appropriate checkbox.
We’re also committed to supporting our community. All donations collected at each event will be split 50/50—half will go to the theatre, and the other half will go to a local individual in need or a charity of your choice. Nominate your chosen recipient using the same form. Each month, we’ll hold a community poll to decide who the donations will go to. If your nominee isn’t chosen this time, don’t worry—they may be included in future polls!
